Malaysia is losing squid to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and local fishermen say Vietnamese counterparts are the main culprits. Malaysian authorities have detained, fined and jailed Vietnamese fishermen for alleged illegal fishing in Malaysia’s waters. But who’s really to blame? Malaysian experts and fishermen say the Vietnamese fishermen do this knowingly, while Vietnamese fishermen deny any wrongdoing.
