The Bandaraya Fish Hunters are on a mission to tackle invasive fish
2024-04-18
Malaysia’s rivers are getting catfished. The invasive catfish, known locally as Ikan Bandaraya, was originally introduced from South America as an ornamental fish. When hobbyists released the fish into rivers, the catfish populated rapidly, sucking the life out of Malaysia’s rivers. A community of volunteers has made it their mission to tackle these invaders and save the local fish population.
